Airplaco Equipment Company and its parent
company, Mesa Industries, have been forerunners in dry-mix (Gunite) and
wet-mix shotcrete equipment manufacturing since the invention of the
process. For over 60 years, Airplaco wet- and dry-process equipment has
been preferred by the industry. Airplaco combines industry-proven
manufacturing techniques and engineering innovations to deliver reliable
machinery suited for today’s demanding material placement
applications.
Airplaco was originally founded in the 1940's as the Air Placement Equipment
Company. The company began by manufacturing the “Bondactor® Gun,” one of
the first pressure vessel dry-mix (Gunite) machines. Early on, the
company found success
by teaming with material suppliers to develop a product for Airplaco’s
machines.
Shotcrete Trailer Pumps
Airplaco’s first positive displacement pumps were produced in 1959. An
early model, known as the Uni-Cretor®, was the basis for Airplaco’s
current Cobra® and Pro-Cretor® trailer pumps. Cobras feature a
heavy-duty dual piston design with twin
shifting cylinders, full-flow s-tube material valve, and a
variable-speed hydraulic piston pump. Cobras also offer variable volume
control and reversing capabilities. Cobra model 640, also known as the
King Cobra, pumps concrete up to 40 yd3/h (30 m3/h), includes a 101 hp
diesel engine, and pumps aggregate up to 1-1/2 in. (38 mm) minus.
Airplaco’s Pro-Cretor trailer pump is designed to meet the needs of
specific high-pressure applications. The Pro-Cretor includes a 3 in. (75
mm) diameter
full-flow s-tube material valve with reversing capabilities, a
variable-speed pump, and an all-hydraulic cycling system. It includes a
10 ft3 (0.28 m3) material mixer and pumps aggregates up to 3/4 in. (20
mm) minus. The Pro-Cretor is suited for pressure grouting,
plastering, aggregate pool finishes, structural repair, and refractory
applications.
Grout Pumps / Concrete Leveling / Block Fill Pumps
By scaling down the same technology used in its shotcrete pumps,
Airplaco is able to offer a versatile line of grout pumps. Small hand
grout pumps as well as air, hydraulic and engine-powered piston pumps
are available for a range of applications.
Airplaco began manufacturing a grout pump for concrete leveling in 1959
called the
"Hydra-Jak." These "slabjack" pumps have been refined over the years
resulting in the current innovations, including the preferred mudjack pump in the
industry, the Airplaco
PumpMaster PG-21. This pump is equally suited for masonry block fill
applications, which gives contractors an efficient method to compete the
block fill job at hand. Other all-in-One solutions are available, including
self-contained trailer units and mobile batch plants for the slabjack/grout
contactor.
Dry-Mix (Gunite) Machines
Today, Airplaco manufactures the classic Ridley C-10® and Cyclone®
rotary bowl-type dry-mix (Gunite) machines, which have become industry
standards. Airplaco developed its own design for the rotary gun, which
was awarded a U.S. patent
in 1972. The C-10 is available with either a 9 hp air motor/spur gear
drive (model C-10SL) or a direct drive hydraulic motor (model C-10HD).
Both C-10 models have production ratings up to 15 yd3/h (11.5 m3/h) and
can convey aggregates up to 3/4 in. (20 mm) minus. The Cyclone includes
a 5 hp air motor, spur gear drive, and features 12 yd3/h (9.2 m3/h)
production capacity.
Batch Plants
In late 1955, Airplaco began producing a batch plant known as the Mix-Elvator®.
This machine is a continuous automatic proportioning mixer designed to
feed a sand/cement mixture into a drymix shotcrete (Gunite) machine. The
Mix-Elvators,
manufactured in their current design, are still popular in the
construction industry today. Airplaco’s batch plants are designed to
replace concrete truck deliveries and allow contractors to mix their
desired material consistency at the job site. Batch plants cut material
costs, reduce labor hours, improve efficiency, and increase profit
margins by giving contractors complete control of their dry-mix
material—from batching to placement. Airplaco batch plants also include
the 914 series Mobile Batch Plants®. The 914 series includes larger,
higher-production batch plants featuring up to 20 yd3/h (15.4 m3/h)
mixing capacity. The 914
is available as either a truck-mounted (914 MB) or trailer-mounted (914
MBT) unit.
Applications
Some specialty applications for Airplaco’s
equipment line include pool building, tunnel
construction, structural reinforcement, block filling,
surface finishing, concrete and grout pumping, slabjacking, mudjacking,
plaster/stucco spraying and finishing, pressure
grouting, backfilling, concrete restoration, refractory applications,
mining and decorative concrete. |
